The Keepers of the Quaich is an exclusive and international Society founded by the leading Scotch whisky distillers to honour those around the world who recognise the nobility of Scotch whisky by working, writing or speaking on its behalf. The organisation includes as its members leading representatives of the Scotch whisky industry and those who have contributed to the success of Scotch whisky in seventy countries around the world.
Members are invited to join by existing members. Candidates must have a minimum of five years experience in the Scotch whisky industry, and must have made a notable contribution.
The Quaich, the symbol of the Society, drives from the Gaelic 'cuach', a drinking bowl. As the Scottish Highlands had no pottery to speak of these vessels were originally made of wood, and not until the seventeenth century did they start to be manufactured in silver.
Adrian Murray, a Director of The Wee Dram became a Member of The Keepers of the Quaich in October 2004, after promoting Scotch whisky in that most difficult of export markets - England!
