The whisky that goes into this bottling includes some distilled in 1974 - when the old floor maltings were operating.
They use two exclusive ingredients: Cadboll Barley which is only used for 2 weeks of the year, this gives a buttery, creamy character to the whisky. High Roast "Chocolate" Malt - Rare and expensive - gives a roast coffee character.
Missouri Oak also comes up - they use some Virgin Casks - slow grown white oak specially made - gives rich sweetness - chocolate, vanilla and fudge. Some used Bourbon casks - brings floral notes , and some Oloroso Sherry Casks - fruit cake raisins dried fruit.
Just great anther success from Dr Bill Lumsden and his team.

Taste Rating Guide

1 - Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan

2 - Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn

3 - A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan

4 - A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
