From the only distillery on the Isle of Jura. being from JUra there is, of course, a legend

It is believed that the water of Jura has mystical life giving properties. Some say it was blessed by St. Columba around 560AD. The islanders do seem to live for a long time, one man is supposed to have lived to 180 years old, and there is a gravestone to give credence to the tale. Some less romantic might suggest that the slow pace of life on Jura and the lack of intensive farming - so pure water and good home grown produce help to encourage longer less stressful lives.

Anyway this whisky has been finished in both American White Oak and sherry casks, this combination of flavours includes crushed almonds pineapple and fresh roasted coffee. The palate is rewarded with hints of citrus fruits, dark toffee and ginger spice.

Taste Rating Guide

1 - Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan

2 - Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn

3 - A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan

4 - A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
