Distilled at the famous Glenlivet distillery on Speyside. Genlivet is on of the most famous names in Single Malt Scotch Whisky, George Smith was the fist distiller in the area to get a licence in 1824, and go "legit". This put him at odds with his previous smuggling colleagues who threatened to kill him and burn down the distillery. He carried and slept with a pair of hair trigger pistols, and had a squad of soldiers to protect his distillery.

This bottling is from Signatory Vintage one of their Unchillfiltered Collection distilled in 1997 and bottled at  16 years old - matured in a1st fill sherry butt. Very rich and well sherried lots of dried fruit flavours.

Taste Rating Guide

1 - Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan

2 - Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn

3 - A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan

4 - A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
