Glenfiddich is probably the most well know of all Scotlands Distilleries. They are the no 1 selling single malt scotch whisky in the world. The distiller is situated in Dufftown, in the heart of Speyside.
This expression is matured in both Spanish ex-Oloroso Sherry casks, and White American oak ex-Bourbon casks. Each one is hand selected by the Master Distiller. It is a rich, complex whisky, think dark chocolate and Christmas cake!
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Rich bronze
Nose: A fainely balanced nose, with substantial oakiness matched by fruit and luscious sherry notes.
Taste: The taste is complex and seductively woody, emphasised by a floral sweetness
Finish: Exceedingly long, honeyed and warm.
Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
