Glenfiddich is probably the most well know of all Scotlands Distilleries. They are the no 1 selling single malt scotch whisky in the world. The distiller is situated in Dufftown, in the heart of Speyside.
This expression is to celebrate the fact that the distillery has been owned by the same family since it was built by William Grant in 1887. The whisky has matured for 26 year in American Oak ex-bourbon casks.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Rich golden.
Nose: Soft and delicate with a beautiful floral character. Spring blossom, violets, sweet peas and a subtle green leafiness.
Taste: Vibrant with a compelling balance of dry tannin and soft brown sugar vanilla sweetness. A deep oak flavour gradually builds, with hints of spice and liquorice shining through.
Finish: Deep and complex.
Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
