The Lakes Distillery is located next to Bassenthwaite Lake in the Lake District National Park. It is part of an 1850’s victorian model farm. The project is the brain-child of Pete Currie, son of Harold Currie, Founder of Arran Distillery
Unlike previous releases of The One, this release is comprised of Scottish Grain and Single Malt whiskies from Speyside and Islay as well as Lakes Malt Whisky. It has also been finished in first-fill Tawny Port hogsheads (A large cask) from Portugal.
Tasting Notes
Nose- Smokey with ripe cherries and plums.
Palate- Follows the nose, with hints of nutmeg and black pepper.
Finish- Long and warming.
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
