This Distillery is situated at Wick in the very North of Scotland. It is named after Sir William Pulteney who was Minister of Fisheries in the early ninetieth century.

I love this whisky as it is a peppery and robust with plenty of body and flavour just as you would expect a single malt whisky from this part of the world taste.

Tasting Notes

Matured for 15 years, this is our most balanced and smooth single malt.  Balancing two different sides of the flavour spectrum, this single malt marries these perfectly, whilst also reflecting our coastal home and its unwavering influence.

On one hand, this is an intense single malt, yet at the same time, it is truly balanced.

Spice and sweetness unite in this naturally rich amber whisky to celebrate rich flavours, yet lighter, more refreshing coastal notes show another side of this single malt.

Colour:  Rich amber

Nose:  Intense yet balanced. Bursting with rich dried fruit, ripe apples and citrus, with honey sweetness and a generous chord of creamy vanilla. Slightly chocolaty and floral in the background.

Taste:  Fragrant spices and Christmas cake, with layers of chocolate and a distinct dark toffee sweetness. There is a hint of salty sea air on the finish, a clear connection to the influence of the sea on this single malt.

Taste Rating Guide

1 - Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan

2 - Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn

3 - A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan

4 - A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
