The name 'Maker's Mark' refers to the unique identifying mark or signature used by artisans to distinguish their work. The iconic bottle design, with its hand-dipped red wax seal, was inspired by Samuels' wife, Margie Samuels. She wanted a bottle that was as distinctive as the whiskey inside, and the hand-dipped wax seal became synonymous with the brand.
Over the years, the company has remained true to its original recipe and production methods, focusing on small-batch production and ageing its whiskey in charred oak barrels to develop its rich flavour profile.

Taste - Sweet with balance of oak, vanilla and fruity essences.

1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
