White Peak Distillery was founded in 2016 and is located in Ambergate, Derbyshire. The brainchild of Max and Claire Vaughan, it is Derbyshire’s first full-scale craft distillery, with a proud focus on the unique Derbyshire provenance and heritage. The building itself was an old wire works and is now part of a UNESCO world heritage site. They released their first single malt whisky in 2022. In addition to this, they produce Shining Cliff gin, a cask-aged rum, and the 1876 Single Malt Cocktail, all of which they mature, bottle, and label on site. As our closest distillery, we are proud to have been a supporter of White Peak since they were first established.
Wire Works Caduro matures in a combination of first-fill ex-Bourbon and STR casks, showcasing a high proportion of American Oak and some French Oak. Transitioning from its maturation details, it emerges as a complex, approachable single malt in their lightly peated core house style.
100% natural colour and non-chilfilltered.
Official Tasting Notes
Orchard fruit, banana and candy cane on the nose, with citrus zest, vanilla, cereal and honey on the palate, and a warm, spicy finish with rich mouthfeel and a wisp of smoke.
Nose - Pear drops, green apples, banana, orange marmalade and nutmeg. White chocolate, candy cane, vanilla, marshmallow, marzipan, popcorn and sugar.
>>Palate - Chocolate orange, treacle tart, liquorice all-sorts and tobacco. Clotted cream, citrus zest, tea cakes, allspice, cereal, trail mix and baklava.
Finish - Butterscotch, mace, citrus, marmalade, crème brulee, vanilla sugar with a wisp of smoke.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
