Glen Ord Distillery is located in the Scottish
Highlands near Muir of Ord. Established in 1838 by Thomas Mackenzie of the Clan Mackenzie, he built it to capitalise on the local barley harvest and the area's ideal conditions for whisky production. Situated on the Black Isle, Glen Ord benefited from fertile barley fields and access to fresh water from the nearby White Burn.
In 1923, John Dewar & Sons acquired the distillery, which later became part of Distillers Company Limited (DCL). Eventually, in 1997, DCL merged into Diageo. A key player in Diageo’s portfolio, it's known for producing whisky used in blends and as single malt expressions. The distillery's output has been integral to blends like Johnnie Walker.
Formed in 1988 by Andrew and Brian Symington, the Signatory Vintage Scotch Whisky Company offers a great range of small batch independent bottlings. They bottle one cask at a time, capitalising on the unique colour and flavour characteristics of each individual cask. They source all-natural malts from the best distilleries in Scotland, selecting the best single batches and bottling only the finest casks within those batches.
This bottling is edition #66 of the Signatory Vintage 100 Proof range. Matured for 9 years in 1st fill Oloroso Sherry Hogsheads and 2nd fill Oloroso Sherry Butts. Bottled at 57.1% ABV, an un-chillfiltered single malt, with no added colouring.
