The Dalmore Distillery is situated on the north shore of the Cromarty Firth in the Northern Highlands of Scotland. Founded in 1839 by merchant adventurer Alexander Matheson, he sold the company to Andrew and Charles Mackenzie in 1867, who introduced the 12-pointed Royal Stag emblem, a guarantee of peerless quality. It encapsulates the distillery’s regal legacy, dating back to 1263. Colin of Kintail, the first chieftain of Clan Mackenzie, earned the emblem when he saved King Alexander III of Scotland from the fury of a charging stag.
The distillery remained family-owned until 1960, when it was purchased by Whyte and Mackay, who still run the distillery today. The unique collection of stills at the distillery creates a unique new make spirit. A robust and fruity liquid, particularly well-suited for a longer and more complex maturation, in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. This allows their whisky makers to ensure each cask of the spirit reaches its full potential. Richard Paterson was the creative force behind Dalmore for almost five decades. He lit the way for current Master Whisky Maker Gregg Glass, who continues an unbroken chain of visionary whisky makers, always pushing boundaries to mature the spirit in the rarest and most exalted of casks.
Made using six cask finishes – small batch Bourbon casks, Matusalem Oloroso Sherry casks, Madeira casks, Marsala casks, Port pipes and Cabernet Sauvignon wine barriques. Exquisitely married, to craft a one-of-a-kind whisky with a rich and enticing flavour profile.

Aroma - Red berry fruits and hints of passion fruit.
Palate - Citrus zest, vanilla pod, crème caramel, and crushed almonds.
Finish - Cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
