Originally built in 1785 as the Adelphi Cotton Mill, the distillery is nestled in the charming village of Deanston,
Perthshire. Designed by Sir Richard Arkwright, the bottom mill operated for nearly two centuries, before ceasing production for good in 1965, marking the end of the community's trading era.
However, Brodie Hepburn, a true visionary, recognised the potential in the worn-down cotton mill. He envisioned more than just its industrial past. Situated beside the banks of the River Teith, he saw not only water perfectly suited for whisky-making but also the energy to sustain a distillery. Inspired by the community's passion and strong work ethic, Deanston Distillery opened its doors in 1966, embarking on a new chapter in its storied history. Today, Distell Group Limited, a subsidiary of Heineken, own the company, after taking over in 1990. They continue to use the River Teith, supplying both water and hydroelectric power.
This 15 year old limited edition bottling of Deanston celebrates its unique wait character, matured in traditional oak hogsheads and finished in hand-selected casks that once held the finest Agave Tequila from the Jaliscan Highlands, Mexico.
The result of this is a malt with fruity, floral notes from the tequila casks, which complement the versatile, waxy citrus character of Deanston. A fresh, fruity burst on the nose. Sweet, rich, dry on the palate. Warming spice and sweetness of caramelised agave.
