Glencadam Distillery is situated in the ancient city of Brechin, Angus, just west of Montrose. Founded in 1825 by George Cooper, the distillery has changed hands numerous times over the years. Angus Dundee Distillers, a small independent distilling company, currently owns it.
The distillery prides themselves on still producing Single Malt Scotch Whisky using the same traditional and handcrafted production methods as it has done for almost 200 years. Unusually, Glencadam’s stills have lyne arms that run upwards at an angle of 15 degrees. This process promotes substantial reflux, contributing to the creation of a single malt known for its distinctive tropical and orchard fruit flavours. The distillery has always made a light floral, delicate whisky.
To craft this Glencadam 15 Years Old, the team at the distillery have exclusively matured the spirit in American Oak ex-Bourbon Casks for 15 years. This is a meticulous process, which has resulted in an exceptionally well balanced single malt from the East Highlands. Characterised by fruity and creamy notes of orchard fruits, sweet vanilla, and liquorice.
Official Tasting Notes
Nose - On the nose, there's pronounced orchard fruits and vanilla pod mingled with aromas of citrus peels and toasted nuts.
Palate - This is a sweet and creamy dram, with layers of sugared almond and panna cotta. Followed with notes of dried apple and nutmeg along with hints of cocoa powder.
Finish - A perfectly balanced finish, with creamy rice pudding and gentle cinnamon spices which linger long on the tongue.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
