Glencadam Distillery is situated in the ancient city of
Brechin, Angus, just west of Montrose. Founded in 1825 by George Cooper, the distillery has changed hands numerous times over the years. Angus Dundee Distillers, a small independent distilling company, currently owns it.
The distillery prides themselves on still producing Single Malt Scotch Whisky using the same traditional and handcrafted production methods as it has done for almost 200 years. Unusually, Glencadam’s stills have lyne arms that run upwards at an angle of 15 degrees. This process promotes substantial reflux, contributing to the creation of a single malt known for its distinctive tropical and orchard fruit flavours. The distillery has always made a light floral, delicate whisky.
The Glencadam Master Distiller crafts Reserva de Madeira in small batches, carefully selecting single malt matured in exceptional American oak ex-bourbon casks from the distillery's historic dunnage warehouses. They expertly marry the whisky before finishing it in the finest Madeira wine casks, sourced from Portugal’s Madeira Islands.
