Glenfiddich Distillery was established in 1886 by William Grant. With the help of his nine children and a single stonemason, William built the distillery by hand. He used second hand stills purchased from Cardhu Distillery, and, during the project, continued to work at his day job - Distillery Manager at Mortlach Distillery. Constantly innovating and evolving, Glenfiddich became the first distillery to open a visitor centre in 1969. In 1991, they released the first 50 year old Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Today, Glenfiddich remains a family-owned business, operated by the fifth generation of William Grant's descendant. It continues to be one of the best selling Single Malt Scotch Whiskies in the world.
This bottling is part of the Glenfiddich Experimental Series, a range of single malts which embodies the family philosophy of freedom and possibilities.
Orchard Experiment is a collaboration between two iconic families, two entrepreneurial minds and two historic spirits. Glenfiddich Malt Master, Brian Kinsman, joined with Matilda Temperley, Master Distiller at Somerset Cider Brandy to create this edition of the Experiemental Series.
Somerset Pomona, a blend of Apple Cider Brandy and Apple Juice, was the inspiration behind this bottling - the first ever Single Malt Scotch Whisky finished in Somerset Pomona Spirit Casks.

Nose - A classic Glenfiddich with a wonderfully fresh pear fruitiness balanced with delicate oak notes.
Taste - An initial burst of ripe orchard fruits on t he palate softens and develops into sweet creamy toffee, caramelised apple and woody spice.
Finish - Long-lasting sweetness.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
