Loch Lomond is a Lowland Distillery which was founded in 1965. The distillery is situated in a converted dye works in the town of Alexandria, which is located just outside Glasgow. Named after the infamous nearby loch, it was founded by the owners of the now closed Littlemill Distillery, which was just down the road towards Glasgow, as they wanted to expand. Loch Lomond creates a range of different single single malt as well as single grain whiskies (both of which come in peated and un-peated varieties). The distillery utilises several different styles of stills to create their wide range of scotch whiskies.
Loch Lomond's continuous 'Coffey' still exclusively crafts this single grain scotch whisky from malted barley. This approach to distillation results in a lighter and much more approachable whisky, abundant in flavor and character. Furthermore, it undergoes maturation in the finest American oak casks, meticulously overseen by Michael Henry, the master blender. He ensures the perfect harmony of flavor and aroma, contributing to the creation of an elegant and unique single grain bottling.
The Loch Lomond Distillery exclusively uses heavily peated malted barley from its malt room to craft this dram. Bourbon casks impart a soft fruity character during the maturation period, subsequently complemented by creamy vanilla notes and subtle wisps of smoke.

Nose - Clove, vanilla and blackcurrant.
Taste - Sweet tangy peat, green apple, lime citrus and aniseed.
Finish - Crispy dry finish with distant peat smoke.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
