The company continues to be an independent, family owned business, born out of the family's passion for single malt whisky.
Built for the sole intention of handcrafting the finest English Single Malt, at the time of the distillery's completion, it was England's first whisky distillery in over 100 years. King Charles III officially opened the distillery in March 2007.
The English Distillery offer whiskies of a wide range of flavours. They produce both peated and un-peated whiskies and also use a variety of different casks for certain releases. They have whisky maturing in their warehouses to last 40 years. Alongside the single malts, they also produce a range of whisky liqueurs.
This is The English Original, which has been aged to perfection in specially selected Bourbon Casks. This exceptional unpeated single malt whisky is a great, easy-drinking classic that forms part of the core trio.
Official Tasting Notes
There is a gentle aroma with hints of vanilla along with tropical fruits. Like a soft whipped vanilla ice cream which melts on the palate. A slightly nutty flavour with a long malty finish. The finish is clean and dry yet slightly salty.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
