The Lakes Distillery is located next to Bassenthwaite Lake in the Lake District National Park. The buildings were originally part of an 1850’s Victorian model farm, which was derelict when work began on the distillery. The project is the brain-child of Pete Currie, son of Harold Currie, Founder of Arran Distillery. A small distillery, they can produce about 240,000 litres a year.
The Whiskymaker’s Reserve is an artistic exploration of oak and blending, of flavour evolution and defining a house style. Creating a new whisky requires a framework of sorts, but there has to be room within it to play, as well as following gut feeling and instinct. The architecture of each release of Whiskymaker’s Reserve will evolve in keeping with The Lakes Distillery's increasing sherry cask influence and their sense of adventure.
The final release in The Whiskymaker’s Reserve series, No.7 is a refined evolution on their journey to define a sherry-led signature style of their single malt. Matured in the finest Oloroso, PX and red wine casks, comprising Spanish and American Oak, it has a familiar bold and discernable flavour profile, evolved with an elegant sweetness.
A fragrant and refined finale to The Whiskymaker’s Reserve series. No.7 is non-chill filtered, natural colour, and bottled at 52% ABV.
