Nc'Nean draws inspiration from Neachneohain, the Gaelic Celtic Goddess known as the Queen of Spirits. Nc'Nean draws inspiration from Neachneohain, the Gaelic Celtic Goddess known as the Queen of Spirits. Founder Annabel Thomas, inspired by this fierce huntress and protector of nature, established the distillery in 2017 on her family estate, Drimnin in Morvern, just across the sea from Tobermory on Mull.
With a modest annual capacity of approximately 100,000 litres, Nc'Nean is committed to sustainability and harmony with nature. The distillery utilises organic barley sourced from 10 certified farms in eastern Scotland. A Biomass Boiler, fuelled by locally-sourced woodchip from replenished forests, actively sustains the energy for the stills.
Water conservation is a priority, with 80% allocated to cooling vapours in the condensers using a dedicated Cooling Pool filled with rainwater. The distillery responsibly sources water for whisky production from a natural spring located behind the distillery. Waste management reflects environmental responsibility, with no old waste sent to landfills. The distillery repurposes Pot Ale as fertilizer on local farmland, contributing to sustainable agricultural practices.
This exceptionally bright and jammy specially treated wine cask bottling from Nc'Nean single cask bottling, is available exclusively to English independent retailers.
Aon means one in Gaelic and represents Nc'Nean's collection of single cask bottlings. Each handpicked cask is delicious, unique and unrepeatable.
This particular STR cask has been selected by the team as they found they could taste hints of quintessentially English sweet treats. A perfect paring for the crème de la crème of English spirit shops! The team also loved the rich buttery texture and long finish.
Tasting notes of sticky toffee pudding, buttery fudge and fruit crumble. A limited release of 302 bottles.

1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
