This is the third whisky release from the West Midlands Distillery, and is a tribute to the thriving English whisky scene and celebrating this all English release. 'Albion' is the oldest recorded name for England and the islands of Great Britain. The name comes from the Latin 'albus', meaning 'white', and likely refers to the white cliffs of Dover - the striking landmark that greeted ancient travellers approaching the island....

This is the third whisky release from the West Midlands Distillery, and is a tribute to the thriving English whisky scene and celebrating this all English release. 'Albion' is the oldest recorded name for England and the islands of Great Britain. The name comes from the Latin 'albus', meaning 'white', and likely refers to the white cliffs of Dover - the striking landmark that greeted ancient travellers approaching the island.
Albion marries together English Barley, English Ale Yeast, and three Virgin English Oak Casks, sourced in Staffordshire. These wonderful English ingredients combine to create a rich, full bodied, unpeated bottling. West Midlands Distillery's signature rich, bold, thick spirit remains at the core of this release, with toffee and caramel up front leading to wood spice through the middle. This gives way to cherry battenburg and a dry spiced finish. The Virgin Staffordshire Oak is the highlight here but remains balanced with the rich, bold spirit. The dry finish from the tannins really encourages another sip.
Like their previous releases, the distillery team individually hand-paints every bottle, along with one side of the outer sleeve. The colours depict the cask and flavour profile, the key to which is inside the packaging. It comes presented in their signature fan box, with a map of the Black Country and Birmingham area.
Limited to 1 bottle per customer.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
