White Peak Distillery was founded in 2016 and is located in Ambergate, Derbyshire. The brainchild of Max and Claire Vaughan, it is Derbyshire’s first full-scale craft distillery, with a proud focus on the unique Derbyshire provenance and heritage. The building itself was an old wire works and is now part of a UNESCO world heritage site. They released their first single malt whisky in 2022. In addition to this, they produce Shining Cliff gin, a cask-aged rum, and the 1876 Single Malt Cocktail, all of which they mature, bottle, and label on site. As our closest distillery, we are proud to have been a supporter of White Peak since they were first established.
With a 30-day fermentation, the White Peak Cask Aged Rum develops a real depth of flavour and complexity, all derived from the distilled spirit. Aged for 28 months in virgin oak cask no.27 with a level 4 char from Kelvin Cooperage. The higher degree of char intensifies the interaction between the wood and the alcohol. Consequently, this process has produced more pronounced vanilla, increased spice, and enhanced woody notes, making it undoubtedly a rum to savour.
This Cask Aged Rum from White Peak Distillery subsequently has no artificial flavours, no added colours, no additives and no added sugar.

Nose - On the nose, there are notes of cream soda and tinned peaches, along with honey and salted caramel.
Palate - You'll find lemon meringue, candied ginger and cinnamon rolls on the palate.
Finish - Finally, bonfire toffee and chilli flakes with marmalade to finish.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
