Blended Malt Scotch whisky, made by Mossburn Distillers. The ruins of this bottling's namesake, Caisteal Chamuis, also known as Knock Castle or Castle Camus, lies on the headland on the eastern flank of Knock Bay on the Isle of Skye, in sight of the grounds of the Torabhaig Distillery. The stone to build the steading, that would in turn become Torabhaig, were originally taken from the by then derelict castle.
This classic Island style Blended Malt Whisky is a tribute to Hebridean life and lore, and reminds the drinker of a time of peat fires, lively company, and bold spirits. It is a characterful whisky, carefully blended and double barrelled in Mossburn casks to balance the heavy island peat. This makes it accessible for those curious to explore the Island style.
This blended Scotch whisky, bold and smoky, is an approachable double cask finish that balances the heavy Island peat notes. This is a characterful whisky, blended from a careful selection of fine Single Malts all distilled on the Scotland Islands. It was recasked in first-fill Bourbon barrels for added depth as well as a mellow oakspice finish.
Originally aged in refill and first-fill American Oak Hogsheads, the individual malts that make up this whisky were then blended. Finally, they were finished in a smaller 200 litre fresh Bourbon Barrels. This second period of maturation and marrying of flavour adds further layers of fresh fragrant smoky oak to the original medicinal peaty aromas and a touch of sweetness and heightened vanilla overtones on the palate.
