Since 2009, the team at Balmenach Distillery in the Scottish Highlands has been handcrafting Caorunn Gin in small batches. The name "Caorunn" (pronounced ‘ka-roon’) draws inspiration from the Gaelic word for 'Rowan Berry'.
Rowan berry is one of five unique Celtic botanicals that are at the heart of the gin. Caorunn use Scotland’s natural pantry to hand-forage the rowan berry along with four other Celtic botanicals - Heather, Coul Blush Apple, Dandelion and Bog Myrtle. All of these botanicals can be found within a ten-minute walk of the distillery. They then pair these with six traditional gin botanicals - Juniper, Lemon Peel, Coriander Seed, Cassia Bark, Orange Peel, and Angelica Root.
Caorunn proudly distinguishes itself as the only gin globally distilled in a working Copper Berry Chamber. This unique process allows the distillers to extract maximum flavour from the botanicals.
This is the classic Caorunn Gin. It has a slightly spicy, full-bodied and invigorating flavour, with a clean and crisp finish. A modern London Dry gin infused with classic Celtic soul.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
