While each release exhibits some variations, they actively maintain the quality and distinct style of Octomore. The Harvey brothers established Bruichladdich Distillery on the shore of Loch Indaal on the Isle of
Islay in 1881. Rémy Cointreau currently owns the distillery. In contrast to many neighboring distilleries, Bruichladdich produces a lighter and softer unpeated whisky. Alongside this, they also produce Port Charlotte, a heavily peated range.
A powerful start to the 17 Series, Octomore 17.1 is a marriage of smoke and char, gained during its maturation period. It's crafted using 100% Scottish Mainland Concerto Barley, malted to 81 PPM and aged for the full 5 years in first-fill Bourbon barrels.
Official Tasting Notes
Vanilla milkshake, Scottish tablet and warm custard tart meets pear drops and malt syrup. The peat builds in waves: dry, earthy smoke, smouldering oak and ash. Salinity cuts through the sweetness, creating clarity. An exercise in refinement and control, the profound yet balanced smoke demonstrates Octomore's signature interplay of intensity and finesse.
