Ben Nevis Distillery, located at the foot of Scotland's highest mountain, Ben Nevis, in Fort
William, was founded in 1825 by "Long John" McDonald. In 1878, a second distillery, Nevis, was built on the same site. The two operated independently until 1908 when they merged under the Ben Nevis name. The distillery saw various ownership changes throughout the 20th century. In 1989, the Japanese company Nikka Whisky Distilling Co. Ltd. acquired it, ensuring the distillery's modernisation and preservation.
Ben Nevis uses traditional pot stills and employs a combination of traditional and modern techniques to produce its whisky. Known for its robust and full-bodied spirit, Ben Nevis often matures its whisky in a variety of casks, including ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, adding depth and complexity to the flavour.
Formed in 1988 by Andrew and Brian Symington, the Signatory Vintage Scotch Whisky Company offers a great range of small batch independent bottlings. They bottle one cask at a time, capitalising on the unique colour and flavour characteristics of each individual cask. They source all-natural malts from the best distilleries in Scotland, selecting the best single batches and bottling only the finest casks within those batches.
A 8 year old bottling, matured in 2nd fill Oloroso Sherry Butts. Distilled in December 2014 and bottled in November 2023. Bottled at 46%, natural coloured and un-chillfiltered (all natural oils retained in the whisky).
Due to no chillfiltration, this whisky may turn cloudy when stored in a cool place. It is both more full bodied and full flavoured.
