Speyburn Distillery is located in Rothes,
Speyside. Founded in 1897 by John Hopkins, a former employee of the iconic Glenlivet Distillery, the distillery was built in the Speyside region, known for its abundant natural resources and ideal conditions for whisky production.
The distillery faced financial challenges early on, and during its first few decades, it changed ownership several times. Despite these challenges, Speyburn managed to produce whisky and established a reputation for its quality single malt. After surviving the Prohibition era in the United States, Speyburn began to gain recognition for its whiskies. During this time, it underwent various renovations and expansions to modernise its facilities.
In 2001, Inver House Distillers acquired Speyburn, bringing stability and investment to the distillery. This allowed for further improvements in production and marketing efforts. Today, the distillery continues to produce single malt Scotch whiskies, maintaining a traditional Speyside style with a focus on fruitiness and smoothness.
Speyburn 10 years old single malt is matured in a combination of American Oak ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. To this day, Speyburn remains the only distillery to draw its water from the Granty Burn, a major tributary of the River Spey. This award-winning dram is a deep, complex and well-balanced single malt. There are touches of fresh fruit, hints of toffee and butterscotch, and a long smooth, sweet finish.
