Craigellachie Distillery was established in 1891 by a consortium including Alexander Edward of Aultmore fame and Peter Mackie, the latter of whom is also known for his work with White Horse Distillers. Situated in the town of Craigellachie, which lies at the confluence of the Rivers Fiddich and Spey. The distillery benefits from the rich, mineral-laden waters of the area, contributing to the unique flavour of its whiskies. After multiple ownership changes, Bacardi now owns Craigellachie Distillery, integrating it into their Dewar's portfolio since 1998.
Known for producing a heavier, more robust style of whisky, characterised by a distinctive sulphury note due to its use of worm tubs in the condensation process. This old-fashioned method results in a rich, meaty spirit.
Craigellachie 13 Year Old evokes Bonfire Night. Aromas of oozing toasted marshmallows, fire-roasted pineapples and baked apples studded with cloves, with the tang of cordite lingering in the background.
A robust, muscular whisky with hoards of exotic fruits - a malt that defies the typical Speyside characteristic. Initially matured in a mixture of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks. Craigellachie takes a bold approach to its whisky production. Half of the blend is finished in first-fill Sherry casks, while the remaining half matures in first-fill Bourbon casks. Non-chill filtered, free from caramel colouring, and bottled at a robust 46% ABV.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
