Glasgow 1770 is made by The Glasgow Distillery Co., founded in 2012 by Liam Hughes, Mike Hayward and Ian MacDougall. Situated in Hillington in the southwest of the city, the company takes its name from one of Scotland's earliest licensed distilleries. The original Glasgow Distillery Company, founded in 1770, operated under various names over the years. It produced unpeated, peated, and triple distilled single malt until its eventual closure in 1902. The new distillery commenced whisky production in March 2015, and they launched their signature single malt, Glasgow 1770, in June 2018.
Glasgow 1770 Triple Distilled is an incredibly smooth and vibrant addition to the Glasgow 1770 signature range. Crafted from the finest malted barley; distilled three times in traditional copper pot stills; combined with the incredibly pure water of Loch Katrine and matured in a selection of ex-Bourbon and Virgin Oak Casks. Non-chill filtered and natural in colour, a truly sophisticated single malt.
Official Tasting Notes
Nose - The nose opens up to sweet vanilla and white chocolate. Leading to fresh summer fruits of aromatic apple, pear and peaches.
Palate - A well balanced and smooth palate, with vibrant vanilla, soft caramel and double cream. Opening up to succulent orchard fruits and berries followed by delicate floral notes alongside a sweet almond nuttiness.
Finish - The finish is long and lingering with notes of rich honey, anise and black pepper and hints of warming woody spice.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
