Glencadam Distillery is situated in the ancient city of
Brechin, Angus, just west of Montrose. Founded in 1825 by George Cooper, the distillery has changed hands numerous times over the years. Angus Dundee Distillers, a small independent distilling company, currently owns it.
The distillery prides themselves on still producing Single Malt Scotch Whisky using the same traditional and handcrafted production methods as it has done for almost 200 years. Unusually, Glencadam’s stills have lyne arms that run upwards at an angle of 15 degrees. This process promotes substantial reflux, contributing to the creation of a single malt known for its distinctive tropical and orchard fruit flavours. The distillery has always made a light floral, delicate whisky.
Glencadam Reserva Andalucia pays homage to the relationship between Glencadam Distillery and the famous sherry region of Andalucia, Spain.
Handcrafted using carefully selected sherry butts, married together with bourbon casks. This excellent single malt is then finished in Oloroso Sherry butts from Andalucia. The result is a rich and sherry-forward expression. The fruity Glencadam spirit balances with sultana and sweet-spice notes from the Oloroso Sherry cask maturation.
