Green Spot was originally produced exclusively for the Mitchell family. They commenced trading in 1805 on 10 Grafton St. in the heart of the City of Dublin, as purveyors of fine wines and confectionary. Four generations later, the company is still in the wine and spirits business, and now under the stewardship of Jonathan Mitchell and his son Robert.
The Mitchell family expanded into whiskey bonding in 1887, when they sent empty wine, sherry and port casks via horse and cart to the local Jameson Distillery. These were then filled and returned to the Mitchell’s cellar warehouse. There, the whiskey matured for many years under bond until they were ready to be bottled and sold.
Spot Whiskey now produce several different Single Pot Still Irish Whiskies. These include - Yellow Spot, matured in Spanish Malaga casks. Red Spot, matured in in a combination of American Bourbon casks, Spanish sherry butts and Sicilian Marsala wine casks and Blue Spot, matured in Bourbon casks, Sherry butts and Portuguese Madeira casks.
This bottling of Green Spot is a non age statement, Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey, comprising of pot still whiskeys aged between 7 and 10 years. The whiskey has matured in a combination of new bourbon and refill bourbon casks, as well as sherry casks.
Official Tasting Notes
Nose - Fresh aromatic oils and spices with orchard fruits and barley on a background of toasted wood.
Taste - Full spicy body. A hint of cloves along with the fruity sweetness of green apples, rounded off with toasted oak. Followed by lingering flavours of spices and barley.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
