Heaven Hill Distilleries. The name 'Larceny' pays homage to John E. Fitzgerald, a treasury agent who in the late 1800s had access to some of the finest bourbon barrels. Legend has it that he helped himself to these barrels, hence the term 'larceny'.
This bourbon is made from a mash bill consisting of corn, wheat, and barley. Unlike many other bourbons which use rye as a secondary grain, Larceny uses wheat, giving it a softer, smoother character. This makes it particularly appealing to those who enjoy a more mellow and approachable bourbon.
Larceny Small Batch is one of the flagship expressions within the brand. Aged in new, charred oak barrels, this process allows the whiskey to develop its flavours and mature over time. A smooth and approachable flavour, it often exhibits notes of caramel, vanilla, and butterscotch, along with hints of oak and spice. The higher wheat content in the mash bill lends a softer mouthfeel and less aggressive spice compared to bourbons with a higher rye content.
