Meikle Tòir is made at The GlenAllachie Distillery in Speyside. Mackinlay McPherson founded GlenAllachie Distillery in Aberlour in 1967. They continued production until 1985, when its owners mothballed it. The distillery saw a revival in 1989 by Invergordon Distillers. In 2017, Billy Walker, Graham Stevenson, and Trisha Savage acquired the distillery, marking a new chapter in its history. Billy is a skilled Veteran Master Distiller who engineered the move from concentrating on providing for blending to Single Malt bottling.
In 2018, the
Speyside distillery launched its first core range of GlenAllachie single malts just nine months after taking ownership. With this release, the distillery took a major step by introducing its first range of single malts after years of contributing only to premium blends. In 2023, they released Meikle Tòir (translating to 'big pursuit'), representing the team’s seasonal peated campaign at GlenAllachie, which began in 2018.
Distilled in May 2019, this Single Cask Meikle Tòir matured for 7 years in an Oloroso Sherry Hogshead (Cask No. 11601) before being bottled in September 2026. Peated to 47 PPM.
A UK exclusive, limited release of 347 bottles.
