The buildings were originally part of an 1850’s Victorian model farm, which was derelict when work began on the distillery. The project is the brain-child of Pete Currie, son of Harold Currie, Founder of Arran Distillery. A small distillery, they can produce about 240,000 litres a year.
The Whiskymaker’s Editions is a series of one-off releases showcasing the sense of adventure of the whiskymakers. Each Edition is an exceptional diversion from The Lakes sherry-led house style - an expression of creative freedom, the product of a playground where instinct, experience and inspiration roam free.
Crafted with meticulously designed pockets of flavour from a bespoke collection of oak casks, The Lakes Mosaic Edition narrates a tale through art and flavour. Taking inspiration from the Silk Road - the ancient intercontinental avenue of east-west trade and cultural exchange - it draws together a sense of adventure from East and West. Uniting eclectic influences and flavours in a singular, sophisticated expression.

Official Tasting Notes
Aroma - Dried sultanas, roasted macadamia nuts, chocolate malt and autumn leaves.
Palate - Light and fruity, blackcurrants, wood spice and chocolate coated coffee beans.
Finish - A long and almost malty finish, with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
