The English Distillery is based in Roudham, Norfolk. James and Andrew Nelstrop, a father and son team, established the distillery in 2006. The Nelstrop family have a long history in farming, and James had a long-time ambition of opening a distillery. The company continues to be an independent, family owned business, born out of the family's passion for single malt whisky. At the time of the distillery's completion, it was
England's first whisky distillery in over 100 years.
We are delighted to have collaborated with The English Distillery to bring you this single cask bottling, exclusively available at The Wee Dram. This bottling has been selected by the guests at our English Distillery tasting earlier this year. After tasting three different cask samples, we all voted for our favourite and this was the winner.
Distilled in February 2017 and bottled in June 2026, the spirit has matured in a 50 litre American Oak octave cask. Octave casks are significantly smaller than the standard hogsheads usually used for whisky maturation, which hold around 225-250 litres. Due to the much smaller cask size, the spirit has a higher level of contact with the wood. This has matured the whisky much quicker, giving off richer notes you'd normally associate with a much older dram.
A very limited release of just 58 bottles, limited to 2 bottles per customer.
