Filey Bay Single Malt Whisky is made at the Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery, situated at Hunmanby between Scarborough and Bridlington, not far from Filey. Launched in 2016, the distillery is a collaboration between farmer and brewer, David Thompson and Tom Mellor. Having been friends for several decades, the duo shared a dream of creating a Yorkshire whisky. But one that doesn’t just replicate Scotch.
With the help of renowned whisky expert Dr Jim Swan, David and Tom debuted Yorkshire's first ever single malt whisky - Filey Bay. Inspired by the bay that is in sight of the distillery, Filey Bay is an exciting addition to
English whisky. A true field to glass distillery, they use barley grown at their farm and distills their spirit on both copper pot and column stills.
The Filey Bay Peated Finish #3 is primarily matured in first-fill ex-Bourbon casks, laid down in the winter of 2018 before a secondary maturation in peated casks, for over four years. The whisky is then finished in casks which previously held peated Islay whisky. The result is a light, sweet and coastal tasting whisky with flavours of vanilla, caramel, subtle peat smoke and citrus.
Soft and subtle, with caramel and coastal notes, this Peated whisky bottling is for every palate. A single malt which brings the west coast of Scotland to the east coast of Yorkshire.
A limited release of 3000 bottles.
Official Tasting Notes
