Founded in 1897, the year of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, by a group of local businessmen, Tamdhu Distillery was established during the late Victorian whisky boom. Tamdhu Distillery boasts a design by Charles C. Doig, who pioneered the use of distinctive Pagoda Heads on distilleries. Ian Macleod Distillers acquired Tamdhu in 2012, coinciding with Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee. Tamdhu exclusively matures all its
single malts in specially sourced Oloroso Sherry Seasoned Oak casks.
From the first sip of this 15 year old expression, you’ll fully appreciate that time maturing exclusively in the finest sherry oak casks. You’ll taste the intense burst of vibrant summer fruits on the palate and enjoy the rewardingly long finish it delivers.
This whisky is exclusively matured in the finest Oloroso sherry casks, both American and European oak, imparting deep flavours and rich colour. Tamdhu 15 offers aromas of dried fruits, sweet spices, and subtle hints of oak and vanilla, characteristic of sherry cask maturation. The palate reveals a harmonious blend of flavours. This includes dark chocolate, ripe fruit, nuts, and a hint of cinnamon, providing a luxurious and velvety mouthfeel. It concludes with a long, warm finish, featuring lingering notes of fruit, spice, and sherry sweetness.
Bottled at 46% ABV and left un-chill filtered, ensuring that the natural oils developed over the course of maturation remain in the bottle.
