Auchroisk Distillery was founded in 1974 by Justerini & Brooks (J&B), a subsidiary of International Distillers & Vintners (IDV), which later became part of Diageo. The distillery is located near Mulben in Banffshire, in the heart of the
Speyside whisky region.
Constructed to meet the rising demand for whisky, particularly for blending purposes, Auchroisk's primary role was to supply malt whisky for the J&B blend, one of the most popular blended Scotch whiskies globally. Designed with modern production techniques, the distillery reflected the advancements in distillation technology of the 1970s.
Gordon and MacPhail, an independent bottler in Elgin, have bottled this single malt. It is part of their Discovery range. Designed to highlight and introduce whisky drinkers to the core flavour profiles of single malts, the Discovery range is excellent for people wanting to try something different. Using a variety of distilleries their aim is to showcase the flavours whisky develops using either Bourbon Casks, Sherry Casks or Peated Malt. Gordon and MacPhail mature the spirit using their own casks. They only bottle the whisky when they believe it’s ready and never before.
Gordon and MacPhail have matured this whisky from Auchroisk for 10 years in Bourbon casks. In this bottling, you'll find vanilla aromas, followed by apple and lemon blossom. Sweet and creamy with ripe banana and zesty orange balanced by cracked black pepper. Lingering tropical fruit and oak on the finish.
