Kilchoman Distillery is located on the Isle of
Islay, off the west coast of Scotland. Established in 2005 by Anthony Wills, Kilchoman is one of the smallest distilleries on the island. They operate as a farm distillery, meaning that they grow a portion of their barley on-site, making them one of the few distilleries in Scotland to do so. This allows them to have greater control over the entire whisky-making process, from barley cultivation to bottling.
Known for their peated whiskies, the distillery crafts their whisky using locally sourced barley and traditional floor malting techniques. Their whiskies often give a bold, smoky character, like most Islay drams, along with layers of complexity and depth.
Following the landmark release of Kilchoman's 16 Year Old in 2023, the team at the distillery have another created another age statement bottling. This limited release has been matured for 13 years in a combination of bourbon barrels, octaves and Calvados casks. The whisky exudes an abundance of juicy fresh fruits, intense sweetness and waves of Islay maritime peat smoke.
