Darnley's is the sister distillery to Kingsbarns Distillery. The Wemyss family owns and operates Kingsbarns, situated in Fife in the Scottish Lowlands near St Andrews, and holds a heritage in the whisky industry dating back to the turn of the 19th Century.
Situated next door to the whisky distillery, Darnley's Gin is produced in a derelict farm cottage. In the gardens surrounding Darnley’s Gin Cottage, they cultivate as many botanicals as the Scottish weather permits. However, sourcing more exotic ingredients like cinnamon and grains of paradise requires warmer climates, so the distillery obtains them from trusted growers around the world. Darnley's continue to grow, forage and source in their endless botanical exploration.
Darnley's Original combines six botanicals in its distillation, including juniper, elderflower, coriander, and lemon peel. A classic London Dry Gin that's fresh, floral and vibrant.
Official Tasting Notes
Nose - Pine needles, juniper, elderflower, cloudy lemonade, floral notes.
Taste - Grapefruit, juniper followed by a mellow spice.
Finish - Long and dry, with a twist of floral and fruit characters from the elderflower.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
