Ardnahoe Distillery, nestled on the northeast coast of
Islay, was established by Hunter Laing & Co., an independent, family-owned bottling company. Opening in 2019, it marked the first new distillery on Islay in over a decade.
Ardnahoe, guided by Master Distiller Jim McEwan, combines traditional craft with modern techniques, using pure water from Loch Ardnahoe. Known for its peated malts with classic Islay smokiness, Ardnahoe stands out for its use of rare worm tub condensers, which slow-cool the spirit for richer flavours and a fuller mouthfeel. The distillery also extends fermentation to enhance complexity in the whisky’s profile.
Hunter Laing is a family-owned independent bottler of Scotch whisky, based in Glasgow. Founded in 2013 by Stewart Laing and his sons, Andrew and Scott, the company specialises in selecting and bottling rare and high-quality single malt and blended Scotch whiskies.
This limited edition bottling of Ardnahoe has been carefully composed to the specifications of Ardnahoe's late founder and chairman, Stewart Laing. Ardnahoe aged this whisky for six years in selected sherry and bourbon casks, creating its most heavily peated bottling yet.
This single malt draws on a selection of older casks containing heavily peated Ardnahoe spirit. It presents a bolder expression of Ardnahoe's distinctive character while retaining the balance, complexity and elegance that define the distillery.
Official Tasting Notes
Peat smoke leads on the nose, drifting in with coastal salt and rich cacao. The palate deepens the smoke with earthy, smouldering intensity, alongside notes of lemon curd, honeyed malt and stewed plums. The finish is long and drying, driven by ashy peat embers, cracked black pepper and a touch of salted toffee.
Limited to 1 bottle per customer.
