Benrinnes Distillery is located in Aberlour, Speyside. Peter McKenzie founded Benrinnes Distillery in 1826 at Whitehouse Farm. After a flood destroyed it in 1829, a new distillery was built in 1835 on a nearby site. Over the years, Benrinnes underwent several ownership changes and periods of rebuilding. Alexander Edward acquired the distillery in the 1860s, modernising the facilities, contributing to its growth.
In 1922, John Dewar & Sons acquired the distillery, and in 1925, it joined the Distillers Company Limited (DCL), which eventually became part of Diageo. Renowned for its unique partial triple distillation process, Benrinnes maintained this technique until 2007, giving its whisky a distinctive character. The spirit is a great example of lighter Speyside, that offer a lot of flavour, thus most of Benrinnes ends up in Diageo’s blends.
Formed in 1988 by Andrew and Brian Symington, the Signatory Vintage Scotch Whisky Company offers a great range of small batch independent bottlings. They bottle one cask at a time, capitalising on the unique colour and flavour characteristics of each individual cask. They source all-natural malts from the best distilleries in Scotland, selecting the best single batches and bottling only the finest casks within those batches.
This bottling is edition #78 of the Signatory Vintage 100 Proof range. Matured for 13 years in 1st fill Oloroso Sherry Butts. Bottled at 57.1% ABV, an un-chillfiltered single malt, with no added colouring.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
