Bushmills Distillery is located in Bushmills, County Antrim,
Northern Ireland. Distilling in the village dates back to 1608, when the area was given a licence by King James I, to distill whiskey. This makes them the world's oldest recorded, licensed distillery. Bushmills continues to produce whiskey over 400 years later, thanks to the generations that have skillfully passed down their experience and craft.
The company was established in 1784 by Hugh Anderson, and over the years it has changed hands several times. Diageo, the largest alcoholic drinks company in the world took over in 2005. They maintained ownership until 2014, when Proximo Spirits took up ownership. As well as producing blends, Bushmills also distill single malt Irish whiskey using their copper pot stills.
Introduced in 2017, Bushmills Red Bush is a well-rounded whiskey that is as versatile as it is complex. Aged in first-fill bourbon barrels for an intense bourbon finish, combined with the signature smoothness of triple-distilled Irish whiskey. This process imparts a smooth and slightly sweet flavour to the whiskey, a rich and robust character with hints of vanilla, caramel, and oak.
Official Tasting Notes
Bushmills Red Bush is an exceptionally smooth blend of their triple-distilled Irish single malt and fine Irish grain whiskey. Matured in American white oak bourbon casks, this exciting blend provides a perfect balance of sweet, nutty and vanilla notes with hints of bourbon. This makes for a great choice for those new to Irish whiskey and frequent bourbon drinkers.
