Hillington in the southwest of the city, the company takes its name from one of Scotland's earliest licensed distilleries. The original Glasgow Distillery Company, founded in 1770, operated under various names over the years. It produced unpeated, peated, and triple distilled single malt until its eventual closure in 1902. The new distillery commenced whisky production in March 2015, and they launched their signature single malt, Glasgow 1770, in June 2018.
Glasgow 1770 The Original is a fresh and fruity single malt, which successfully ignited the rise of a new whisky era in Glasgow. Handcrafted in copper pot stills, the finest malted barley and the exceptionally pure water of Loch Katrine combine to create the finest spirit. Matured in first fill ex-Bourbon Casks, finished in Virgin Oak, always non-chill filtered and natural in colour. Glasgow 1770 The Original is a wonderfully smooth, fruity and complex single malt whisky.
