In 2018, the Speyside distillery launched its first core range of GlenAllachie single malts just nine months after taking ownership. This release marked a significant milestone as it was the first-ever range of single malts from the distillery, previously used to create premium blends. In 2024, the company rebranded, giving GlenAllachie 'a new visual identity', representing their evolution since 2018.
‘Sinteis’ (pronounced sin-teesh) means ‘synthesis’ in Scottish Gaelic. The Sinteis Series, launching throughout 2025, explores the dynamic relationship between virgin oak and traditional sherry casks. Each release pairs an unusual virgin oak cask with a classic sherry counterpart, offering a twist on familiar flavours.
The series debuts with a 2014 expression matured in First-Fill Pedro Ximénez Sherry puncheons and Chinquapin, a Native American oak from the Ozarks in Missouri. The result is a medley of dark fruit, baking spices and chocolate tones.
Official Tasting Notes
Colour - Intense Walnut.
Nose - Liquorice, butterscotch, and grilled honeycomb, with candied orchard fruits, cocoa, and treacle tart.
Taste - Ginger, butterscotch and candied lemon slices, followed by fig jam, blackberries, and molasses, with cinnamon spice and rich cocoa on the finish.
Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
