Founded in 1967 by Mackinlay McPherson in Aberlour, GlenAllachie Distillery operated until 1985 when it was mothballed. The distillery saw a revival in 1989 by Invergordon Distillers. In 2017, Billy Walker, Graham Stevenson, and Trisha Savage acquired the distillery, marking a new chapter in its history. Billy is a skilled Veteran Master Distiller who engineered the move from concentrating on providing for blending to Single Malt bottling.
In 2018, the
Speyside distillery launched its first core range of GlenAllachie single malts just nine months after taking ownership. This release marked a significant milestone as it was the first-ever range of single malts from the distillery, previously used to create premium blends. In 2024, the company rebranded, giving GlenAllachie 'a new visual identity', representing their evolution since 2018.
‘Sinteis’ (pronounced sin-teesh) means ‘synthesis’ in Scottish Gaelic. The Sinteis Series, launching throughout 2025 and 2026, explores the dynamic relationship between virgin oak and traditional sherry casks. Each release pairs an unusual virgin oak cask with a classic sherry counterpart, offering a twist on familiar flavours.
GlenAllachie The Sinteis Series - Part III combines single malt matured in Oloroso Sherry Casks with spirit from French Virgin Oak Barrels. Distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2026 at cask strength, this 11 year old dram unveils indulgent layers of dark chocolate and roasted coffee, entwined with nutmeg and gentle oak warmth.
