Glenturret Distillery is one of Scotland’s oldest working distilleries, with a history that traces back to 1763. Located in Crieff, Perthshire, it has been central to the country's whisky-making heritage for over 250 years. Originally involved in illicit whisky production, it became officially licensed in 1818 under John Drummond and was later named after the nearby Turret River by Thomas Stewart in the mid-19th century.
Glenturret ceased production in 1921, due to the effects of Prohibition in the United States and the economic depression. However, the buildings survived, and the distillery was revived in 1959 by James Fairlie, making it one of the first to offer visitor tours. In 1990, it became part of Highland Distillers, contributing to the production of The Famous Grouse blend. French luxury group Lalique acquired the distillery in 2019.
Created in 1968 by George Urquhart, the Connoisseurs Choice range has featured more than 2,000 bottlings from almost 100 Scottish distilleries. The label of each Connoisseurs Choice whisky narrates its story, including cask type, bottling date, strength, vintage, and tasting note. Gordon & MacPhail, drawing on four generations of the same family, uniquely crafts these rare single cask and small batch expressions by applying their expertise in matching spirit to oak casks. These creations consistently remain non-chill-filtered.
This UK Exclusive bottling of Glenturret was filled in 2007 and spent its maturation in a first-fill Sherry Hogshead. Bottled at 59.8%, this is whisky is a cask strength bottling. A limited release of 320 bottles.
Official Tasting Notes
Cinnamon and ginger aromas complement milk chocolate. Sweet and rich spiced fruit flavours lead to plum, charred oak and underlying citrus. A medium-bodied finish with red berries and black pepper.

Tasting Rating Guide
1: Light, good for beginners - an aperitif on a summers day, i.e. Glengoyne, Auchentoshan
2: Also good for beginners but with more depth and body - a little stronger than 1, ie. Glenmorangie, Speyburn
3: A dram for everyone, a little more complex so the palate requires a little more experience, i.e. Cragganmore, Macallan
4: A stronger spirit, a big whisky with lots of character and body, excellent after dinner, i.e. Lagavulin, Laphroaig
