Henstone was first conceived in 2016 by four friends and their mutual yearning to create sensational 'top-shelf' spirits. Established in Oswestry,
Shropshire, Henstone is the brainchild of Chris and Alexandra Toller, and Shane and Alison Parr. Currently located at the Stonehouse Brewery site, the company's aim is to create the best quality products for people who enjoy sophisticated, classic spirits, but with that small batch twist.
The name Henstone originates from the family homes of the original co-founders. Chris and Alex live in an ex-public house called “The Hen and Chickens”, whilst Shane and Alison live in “Stone House”. Alongside whisky, they also produce gin, rum and vodka, alongside a corn liquor.
Henstone Distillery’s production takes place in a 1,000-litre copper pot still, named Hilda, sourced from Kothe in Germany. The distillery also has a strong emphasis on sustainability, using locally sourced grains and botanicals where possible and supporting the local agricultural community. Their eco-friendly approach, combined with small-batch production, allows them to maintain control over quality while reducing environmental impact.
This edition of Henstone whisky was bottled at a cask strength of 62.9% ABV. Aged in a 200-litre American standard barrel. It was filled on November 26, 2020, and disgorged on July 17, 2024, making it approximately 3 years and 8 months old.
A beautifully smooth single malt single cask whisky, matured, distilled, aged and bottled by the Henstone team. This expression has been aged in ex-bourbon casks, bottled at cask strength and has not been chill filtered or coloured.
Despite its high strength and relatively young age, the whisky has a lovely flavour profile. A limited bottling with no future releases currently scheduled.
