Henstone was first conceived in 2016 by four friends and their mutual yearning to create sensational 'top-shelf' spirits. Established in Oswestry,
Shropshire, Henstone is the brainchild of Chris and Alexandra Toller, and Shane and Alison Parr. Currently located at the Stonehouse Brewery site, the company's aim is to create the best quality products for people who enjoy sophisticated, classic spirits, but with that small batch twist.
The name Henstone originates from the family homes of the original co-founders. Chris and Alex live in an ex-public house called “The Hen and Chickens”, whilst Shane and Alison live in “Stone House”. Alongside whisky, they also produce gin, rum and vodka, alongside a corn liquor.
Henstone Distillery’s production takes place in a 1,000-litre copper pot still, named Hilda, sourced from Kothe in Germany. The distillery also has a strong emphasis on sustainability, using locally sourced grains and botanicals where possible and supporting the local agricultural community. Their eco-friendly approach, combined with small-batch production, allows them to maintain control over quality while reducing environmental impact.
The inaugural bottling in Henstone's Red Range - a collection that will showcase innovative maturation techniques and bold flavour profiles. Bottled at 54.6%, this single malt has been matured in a carefully selected Red Wine Cask. It's then been finished in an ex-Peated Islay Cask, introducing a delicate smoky layer that adds complexity to the overall profile.
