Inchgower Distillery was founded in 1871 by Alexander Wilson & Co, on the outskirts of Buckie,
Moray. In 1936, the company became bankrupt, and Buckie Town Council brought the distillery, selling it to Arthur Bell & Sons in 1938. Guinness later took over Arthur Bell & Sons, with the group eventually forming part of Diageo, who continue to own the distillery today. The spirit made at Inchgower Distillery continues to be an integral part of Bell's blend, one of the UK's best selling scotch whiskies.
Established early in 1994, Murray McDavid is a leading Independent Scotch whisky bottler. They use a variety of interesting casks during maturation to produce Inspired Scotch Whisky. Their ranges available include the Benchmark series, Mystery Malts, Cask Craft and select Grain bottlings.
This bottling is part of their ‘Cask Craft’ range of single malts from across Scotland. Artfully matured in a variety of wood types, displaying a fine balance of oak and spirit.
This single malt from Inchgower Distillery is a spicy malt, with a fruity and floral character and hints of nuts. The use of Madeira Wine Barriques from Juntino's gives an influence of rich, dry fruits with mellow oak spice.
The exotic wine casks have elegantly mellowed this rich Inchgower spirit, resulting in alluring aromas of orchard fruits, honied cereal and chocolate malt, leaving a long warming finish with flavours of sweet oak spice.
